On Tuesday, I named our “Pop 5″ list of best consignment stores in San Francisco. The stores I selected generally have great bargains on beautiful clothes, but aren’t cheaply priced. At Cris in Russian Hill, for instance, you’re likely to find a designer handbag, which may have originally sold for $1,000-$2,000, for $200-$300 — still a great expense for most. The shops selected for our list are also beautifully curated, and “the thrill of the hunt” you may experience in other stores isn’t quite part of the equation, since everything’s so fantastic to begin with.
